“To capture or not to capture” is the question – PayHere offers “Hold on Card” (Auth and Capture) feature.
Are you worried about not being able to issue partial refunds? PayHere has the answer to that.
PayHere offers “Hold on Card (Auth and Capture) payment technology” which allows you to place a temporary hold for a certain amount on your customer’s card now and capture the exact or lesser amount later within 7 days. Here’s how.
Imagine that a guest books a room in your hotel and they are not sure if they will be staying for 3 or 4 days. Now you start wondering how you could make sure that you receive the amount due from the guest once they check-in.
Don’t worry! The “Hold on Card (Auth and Capture) payment technology” offers you great convenience by eliminating unnecessary hassles like processing partial or full refunds, in cases where the final amount to be charged from the customer varies from the authorized initial amount. Now you can hold the amount applicable for the hotel booking for 4 days and capture the actual amount based on the guest’s check-out date. If it is for 3 days, then you can capture and charge the amount only applicable for 3 days and release the rest of the amount. If the guest actually stayed for 4 days, then you can capture the whole amount that was under the “Authorization Hold”.
Isn’t this a great relief?
“Hold on Card” is only available on Visa & MasterCard payment methods and you can use this facility to temporarily hold funds for the authorized amount after getting the customer authorization in place, as it ensures that the customer has sufficient funds to process the payment when the amount is captured later.
Instead of issuing partial refunds, you can use “Hold on Card” and release the remaining funds. In the case of full refunds due to order cancellations, you can opt into avoiding the capture itself.
