Genie enabled as a New Payment Method
Now your customers can also pay you using their Genie Mobile Wallet. Genie is a modern mobile wallet introduced by Dialog which allows the customers to link their card or bank account into their Genie wallet. When they make you a payment, the amount will be directly charged from their card or bank account.
This is a significant improvement of the payment methods we offer since this allows your customers to make you payments via any local bank account linked to their Genie wallet. Genie payment method is now enabled for all the PayHere Accounts regardless of your service plan.
Backup processor added to avoid Downtimes
You may noticed a significant improvement in the service availability of our payment gateway or less downtimes in the recent past. The reason for that is, we worked very hard over the previous months to improve the uptime of our payment gateway & as a result, now we are securely connected with another payment processor as a backup.
The beauty of that is, now if our primary payment processor has any service unavailabilities or technical breakdowns, our payment gateway will automatically switch the payments to the backup processor in order to process the payment. Therefore, now you can enjoy the best service availability from our payment gateway compared to all others.

More Currency Support & Revised Cross-border Fees
If you are accepting foreign currency payments with PayHere, there’re mixed news for you. Even though previously we supported only USD payments as foreign currency payments, now we support more foreign currencies, namely GBP, EUR & AUD in addition to USD. This currency support is now enabled on all the PayHere Accounts regardless of your service plan.
However the 1.0% cross-border fee charged on top of your payment processing fee for foreign currency payments will be revised as 1.5%, which is to be effective from 6th of June 2019. This is solely due to the recent cost increase from the international card associations (Visa & Mastercard) with regard to cross-border online payments.
