HelaPay – A “Helakuru and PayHere” affair.
Life wasn’t always this easy.
Remember when we didn’t have convenient solutions for day to day requirements like making payments for utilities or purchases. Back then businesses had to rely on age-old ways to accept payments until financial technology solutions became popular among the masses. PayHere, a FinTech solutions provider was launched in 2016 with the vision of “digitizing payments of every Sri Lankan business”. By conquering the grounds of challenges and striving for excellence every day, PayHere managed to transform more than 3000 businesses in Sri Lanka by processing billions of Rupees worth of payments on behalf of local merchants and entities over the years.
For people to see and feel the idea of convenience through the translucent nature of technology and enjoy solutions based on technology, it needs to be presented in a very simple manner. Helakuru is one such innovation that shed light on the potential of Sinhala typing becoming a mass phenomenon, by proving it in the years to come as now it has become a Super App. Among the multitude of services it offers, Helakuru Reload facility powered by PayHere has become a sensation thanks to its convenience, with a monthly volume of 20 to 30 million Rupees worth of reload transactions being done. The recently introduced Helakuru bill payment facility, also powered by PayHere, became popular overnight with more than one million bill payments processed within the first two days.
It’s amazing how far we have come as humans, constantly venturing and thriving in a world full of challenges and opportunities. This doesn’t end here.
To think that there are communities in Sri Lanka, who still haven’t experienced life beyond notes and coins while other countries are immersed in their own systems of payments, made Helakuru and PayHere envision a system of their own. With the success of AliPay and WeChat Pay in China or Google Pay and Apple Pay in western countries enabled with Face ID or Fingerprint for convenience, the possibility of having a simple system for tech-averse Sri Lankans shall no longer be considered a myth. Why? It can be done here and it has been done!
The enterprising and daring journey of the umbrella brand and company “Bhasha”, now completing 10 years in business, has paved the way for PayHere and Helakuru brands to join hands yet again, to debut HelaPay – “හෙළPay” as the solution for “easy-peasy” payments.
How simple is HelaPay?
Let’s say a customer is going to make a payment to one of the merchants in the merchant base of 3000+ businesses powered by PayHere. When they click on “Pay with PayHere” they will see several payment methods including HelaPay. As one of the 10 million Helakuru users, now they don’t have to worry about remembering or typing account numbers or card numbers to complete the payments.
No card? No worries! Unlike the usual card payments based on bank accounts, HelaPay allows any local savings bank-account holder to easily make payments straight away based on the balance. If the payment is done via mobile, they will see a fingerprint icon and they can click on it to proceed with the payment. If they are paying on a computer, they can scan the QR code via their mobile device and make the payment. More online customers for online businesses!
With the approval from the Central Bank and value additions from both PayHere and Helakuru brands, HelaPay payment option will be displayed in the PayHere checkout process among other payment methods for the customers of all PayHere merchants, to have a smooth payment ride.
Now you, as a merchant, can enjoy the benefits of HelaPay; Sri Lanka’s “easy-peasy” payment revolution with a customer base of nearly 10 million users, without any additional integrations, thanks to PayHere.
Enjoy!
